Manchester Uni, 2017

Manchester Tournament day! The day we got to try out our new flag.

2 teams: ‘Hawks’ and in honour of our of humble mascot, a debut appearance of the ‘Hawks Eagles’ team!

Strong performances in the morning by Hawks, losing only to Lancaster Uni (shooting practice needed by all in a certain division…), followed by a draw against Manchester Uni.

Hawks (2) v Warriors (1)
Hawks (4) v Man U 3 (2)
Hawks (0) v Lancs U (1)
Hawks (3) v Man U (3)
Hawks (walkover) vs Scratch

The Eagles’ morning fared even better, remaining unbeaten until the last match of the morning.

E (3) v Old Boys (2)
E (2) v L’pool U (0)
E (6) v Man U 2 (2)
E (5) v Lancs Phoenix (2)
E (1) v Manchester KC (2)

Then we realised our fate – Hawks were to play Eagles in the semifinal showdown of the century. Tricky situation considering our 5 girls had been playing for both Hawks and Eagles all day. The match was tense and one of the highest scoring of the day. It was the Eagles that cracked under the pressure to let Hawks take a 7-3 victory.

In the 3rd/4th place match, Eagles took on Manchester KC and held them to a draw. Penalty shoot out. Stu scores! Amy and Jay need penalty practice… a 2-1 loss on penalties leaves Eagles in a respectable 4th place.

Hawks played Warriors in a well-matched game with lovely goals from Thom and Maz. Unfortunately a few too many penalties were conceded, and we lost 6-4. A great final though and a brilliant 2nd place.
